We live in times where caring for ourselves means also caring for the Planet. This is why at Peabodys we are very committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our activities; we do so through a set of different initiatives.
This time we targeted coffee waste recycling, as we felt it is a lost opportunity not giving a second life to such a matter stream we generate every day. There are many ways coffee grounds can find a use before disposal, the most typical being transforming them into pellets for energy generation. But at Peabodys we think burning is really the very last productive thing you can do with waste, for it implies removing it for good from any material cycles, neglecting the sense and spirit of circular economy. So we have thought about a different solution and partnered with the gardeners of St. George’s Hospital in Tooting to make the coffee grounds we generate at our outlets available for gardening uses. And it works!
