Covid-19 didn’t get the Christmas memo, and its stubborn grip is likely to stretch past December 31st. But we also know that this final month of 2020, the one filled with tinsel, gifts and giving, is a welcome symbol for many after such a hideous year.
At Peabodys we never been prouder to serve the NHS than we are in 2020. We can see the sore ears and noses from masks, and the moments between staff when things get rough. From the bottom of our hearts, to those on the frontline – you are utterly incredible.
To round off the year with an extension of our ‘Campaign of Kindness’, we’re championing two incredible charities; St George’s Hospital Charity and Ronald McDonald House CharitiesTM. We’re also providing a platform for Random Acts of Kindness at St George’s through our new click & collect system.
St George’s Angel – 10% of profits to St George’s Hospital Charity
Our luxury Christmas hot chocolate is going out in style this year with the addition of natural wild peppermint, whipped cream and mini marshmallows.
We’ll be donating 10% of profits from this festive drink (sold from 16th November to 3rd January) to St George’s Hospital Charity, to support their Thank You Appeal.
Ronald McDonald House Charities – Peabodys Nutcracker £1 photo campaign
In German tradition, the nutcracker is a symbol of good luck and a protector of the house, frightening away malevolent spirits.
We couldn’t think of a better character to be the centre of our December campaign to support Ronald McDonald House Charities – who keep families together by providing accommodation for families of poorly children staying in hospital during treatment.
This December, Peabodys are donating £1 for every person that takes a snap with one of our three life-size nutcrackers at St George’s University Hospital. The fun snaps tagged on Twitter will be visible for all to see, to spread a bit of Christmas cheer and further the important cause. Find a nutcracker at St James OPD, Atkinson Morley Wing, and Medical School.
Random Acts of Kindness, ‘Pay it forward’ hot drinks
In late November we were approached by a member of staff at St George’s Hospital, who along with a team of colleagues who were working remotely, wanted a way to to gift a hot drink to staff still on the ground at St George’s. They felt that working at a distance from their colleagues, it was not as easy as usual to do the small acts of kindness that perk each other up. The ‘pay it forward’ scheme was born.
Using the Peabodys click & collect system, remote working staff can purchase one or more ‘pay it forward’ coffees, which are then held in the till system. The manager at that Peabodys site can then select someone having a rough day to be the beneficiary of the donor’s generosity. A coffee can also be purchased for a specific colleague, by adding their name in the order notes.
Here are the links for click & collect at Atkinson Morley wing and Medical School (Hunter Wing). Note: works best on mobile, or with browsers Chrome or Safari.

We’ll update you all in January with a roundup of our December charity campaigns, and you can always stay in touch via our social channels. Until then, have a wonderful Christmas, wherever you may be.
Lots of love,
The team at Peabodys Coffee.
